Augusta Dental Centre - Roy Dixon
About Roy Dixon
“I am extremely lucky as I enjoy my job. Everyone assumes that looking in peoples’ mouths all day must be horrible, but that is because they imagine what their own mouths must be like. The joy of dentistry is the taking patients on a journey to achieve the confident, healthy smile they deserve. I am delighted that I have finally realised my vision in opening Augusta Dental Centre; I am now able to deliver quality dentistry in a caring environment, where the practice ethos is simply the pursuit of excellence.”
Roy qualified from Guy's Dental Hospital, London, in December 1986. He was awarded an Army Dental Cadetship for the last two years of his dental studies and on graduation he was commissioned into the Army. He completed his officer training at RMA Sandhurst and enjoyed a varied and challenging career with postings in the UK and Germany. He completed operational tours in Northern Ireland and Bosnia and, in 2003, as Commanding Officer, he deployed his Field Hospital to the recent Gulf conflict. One of his rewarding experiences was becoming a Vocational Trainer to a newly qualified dentist. Roy continued to develop his professional skills and in 2001 was awarded, by examination, Membership in General Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Roy left the Army after 19 years service and joined a group of practices in Harley Street, London, as the Clinical Director. He continues to work in developing younger dentists as a tutor in the Central London Group. In July 2004 he moved to the Centre for Excellence in Dentistry in Birmingham and has continued to develop his special interest in cosmetic and implant dentistry.??
BACDRoy is now enjoying a more stable family life with Elaine, Alice and Guy. Casting the odd fly for salmon and trout and enjoying rugby as a spectator.
