Wood & Woolfstein - Richard Wood
About Richard Wood
have enjoyed and still enjoy dealing with people and looking after their health and teeth for more than (I have to say it quickly) 30 years, the majority of that time spent in Chorlton.
I have now got to the stage where I am meeting the children of the children I saw when I first started, completing the circle of practice within building, which comes from my philosophy of promoting our care of the Family.
With time I have seen changes generally; everything is much busier from the traffic on the streets to the amount of people we see on a daily basis.
Much more emphasis is put nowadays into appearance so the cosmetic side of dentistry is much more to the front of people's minds. Hence the constant need for attending courses to keep up with knowledge of the changing needs.
I have got to a stage now where my own children have grown up, if not quite left home yet, and, due to an injury 10 years ago, I now spend half my life restoring my "grand design" of a Grade 1 stately home and estate in Wales, for which the exercise keeps me flexible and able to continue to perform as a dentist.
Interestingly, the principles of mouth and house restoration are surprisingly similar, just a difference in scale and materials. The distraction of many interests keeps my musical career on hold.
