About Rena Eva Dean

Dr. Dean undertook her training as a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BChD) at the University of Leeds in 2008. During this time, she demonstrated outstanding academic and practical potential (skills) being awarded the prestigious Harty Medal and Prize by the British Endodontic Society. Dr Dean went onto undertake her Vocational Training (VT), gaining valuable experience in sedation, implants and orthodontics. She subsequently spent time within Hospital as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Honorary Dental Practitioner, working within a wide range of settings including surgery and outpatients. Her time within general practice has been focused on further development of cosmetic treatments, and she strongly believes in tailor made treatment solutions, in offering a variety of treatment options and empowering patients with their own dental knowledge. It ensures every patient is treated as an individual and is able to make the right treatment choices for them. Dr. Dean is passionate about delivering excellent dental treatment and high quality patient care. She also appreciates the importance of a positive dental experience and as a result of working with patients with severe anxiety, undertook Therapeutic Hypnosis training. Over the years, Dr. Dean has established excellent relationships with patients and a reputation for being a friendly, gentle, caring and highly skilled practitioner. This is reflected in the recommendations and referrals of patients wishing to be treated by Dr. Dean. Dr. Dean has a strong commitment to Continued Professional Development (CPD) and has particular interests in aesthetic dentistry and oral surgery. She ensures that Cherrybank Dental Spa is informed by the latest cutting edge research and is a member of the following organisations: • The Faculty of General Dental Practice (Royal College of Surgeons of England) • British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry • British Dental Bleaching Society • British Dental Association Since qualifying, she has obtained the following qualifications: • Cosmetic & Aesthetic Restorative Dentistry Certificate Course • Inman Aligner Certification Course, Straight Talks Seminars • Clearstep Orthodontic System Accreditation • Oral Facial Botulinum Toxin (Bob Khanna Training Institute) • Foundation Course in Therapeutic Hypnosis (NCTH) • Foundation in Implantology (ITI, Straumann) Additionally, Dr. Dean has passed her exam for the Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MFGDP) and is currently submitting her portfolio. Therefore, Dr. Dean is able to offer hypnotherapy techniques to reduce anxiety, increase relaxation and manage pain relief. Dr. Dean’s training in Oral Facial Botulinum Toxin enables her to offer facial aesthetic treatments for wrinkle reduction, to reduce a high upper lip line of a ‘gummy smile’, as well as treatment for alleviation of jaw muscle pain and headaches due to clenching and grinding. Furthermore Dr. Dean is able to offer patients corrective treatment for crowded or protruding front teeth in a fraction of the time of conventional orthodontics safely and conservatively using the Inman Aligner, or an invisible orthodontic solution to treat a variety of dental malocclusions. Dr. Dean is proud of her Scottish heritage and is affiliated to the clan Mackinnon whose heraldic motto is ‘Fortune favours the bold’. This resonates with her love of travel and interests in daring outdoor sports; she is a keen horse rider, climber and ballet dancer. Dr. Dean currently divides her time between Edinburgh, Exeter and London where she is undertaking her training in cosmetic and aesthetic restorative dentistry.
