About Paul Wilson

Paul HR Wilson grew up in the North-East of Scotland and graduated from the University of Glasgow with Honours in Medical Biochemistry and Dental Surgery in 1997. Part of his undergraduate training was completed at the Université Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, funded by an Erasmus Scholarship, and he was awarded the prestigious James Whitelaw Prize for Best Student in his final year. After working in general dental practice and senior house officer posts, in 2000 he underwent postgraduate specialist training at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Guy’s & St Thomas’ Dental Institute, King’s College London and the University of Alberta, Canada, completing Consultant training in 2005. He was awarded the TC White Scholarship of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow in 2005, an AstraZeneca Scholarship in 2006, and won the GlaxoSmithKline Fellowship of the Royal Society of Medicine from 2003-2009. He was awarded a Prosthodontic Fellowship at the University of Alberta, Canada, in 2006. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow (FDSRCPS 2000) and passed the Intercollegiate Fellowship Examination in Restorative Dentistry of the surgical Royal Colleges of the United Kingdom and Ireland (FDS RestDent 2006). Paul HR Wilson was Consultant in Restorative Dentistry and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Bristol Dental School and The Royal United Hospital, Bath, from 2006 until 2013. At Bristol Dental Hospital he was Lead Consultant for oral rehabilitation for the South-West Head and Neck Cancer Network, and for dental trauma.He is currently locum Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Aberdeen Dental Hospital, 2 days per week. Paul HR Wilson’s clinic at 13 Circus runs 3 full days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, and he has a satellite private clinic at BMI Bath Clinic for consultations and treatment under general anaesthesia (www.bmihealthcare.co.uk/bath). He also works as a Clinical Lecturer for the MSc in Dental Implantology, University of Bristol. In addition to this, he acts as an Expert Dental Witness for the General Dental Council, the NHS in England and Wales, and for several independent law firms. Paul HR Wilson is a member of several specialist dental societies, including the Association of Dental Implantology, British Society for Restorative Dentistry, British Prosthodontic Society, British Endodontic Society, Association of Consultants & Specialists in Restorative Dentistry, and the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He espouses lifelong learning and continual professional development by attending courses both nationally and internationally. He has also published widely and runs several courses each year for both undergraduate dental students and postgraduate dentists. Paul HR Wilson has maintained a private referral practice for over 12 years. He previously worked at 33 Beaumont Street, Specialist Referral Centre, Oxford for over 9 years, and has been at The Circus Dental Practice for over 4 years. Paul lives in Bath with his wife Stephanie, a fellow local dentist, and their three young children. When not acting as a children’s taxi service, in his spare time he enjoys sports, music, and voluntary work.
