About Gareth Williams
Gareth is our multi award winning orthodontist. He completed his first degree in dentistry in 2005 at the University of Wales, Cardiff, where he won the Magdalen Morgan Scholarship, the JWS Gareth is our multi award winning orthodontist. He completed his first degree in dentistry in 2005 at the University of Wales College of Medicine, Cardiff, where he won the Magdalen Morgan Scholarship, the JWS Laboratory Award and the Dental Defence Union Audit award.
Gareth qualified from Dentistry in 2005 and undertook his vocational training in Wales, where he won the Eagle award for the presentation of his clinical work. Following this, he worked in a variety of private practices in Australia and Surrey before returning to hospital to train as a senior house officer in the fields of oral and maxillofacial surgery, paediatric dentistry and dental public health. During this training he won the General Professional Training audit award and managed to secure funding from the Welsh Assembly Government for the patenting of a self-designed surgical device. Gareth was also awarded membership in the Royal College of Surgeons of England during this year.
He then joined Liverpool University as a registrar in 2009 where he completed his second specialist Doctorate degree in Orthodontics. Here he won the Liverpool Orthodontic Shield for the presentation of best treated patients in the Mersey Deanery, a Membership in Orthodontics case prize for the work presented at examination and the Geoffrey Fletcher Scholarship to undertake further research in America. His research in America is on-going with the aim of detecting and correcting facial asymmetry in patients. Gareth has contributed to many National conferences by presenting his doctoral research, and is the author of numerous publications. He regularly lectures in both English and Welsh. More recently, he spent time in Cambodia, lecturing students, dentists and orthodontists.
