About Derek van Staden

Derek qualified in 1998 from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa and is an experienced, forward thinking dentist, committed to providing high quality dental care for his patients. He continues to grow this highly successful practice after taking over in 2003 and turning it into Christchurch Dental. Derek studied Dental Implantology at the Eastman Dental Institute in London, enabling him to replace lost teeth with implants (a fantastic alternative to dentures), and is thrilled to be able to offer this life-changing treatment option to our patients. With advanced training in Minor Oral Surgery, as well as being a full member of the British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Derek is committed to continually improving his knowledge and skills so that he is at the forefront of new enhancements and techniques to provide you with the best results and service possible. As a testament to the excellence of his work, Derek has a loyal client base. He is noted for his quiet, calm and gentle demeanour so greatly appreciated by nervous patients.

	92%	I am an extremely nervous patient and they treat me with kid gloves and also offer sedation if i really need it. All the staff have been very welcoming and nothing seems too much trouble. I am now set up on denplan which encourages me to go and keep the visits regular. I am happy to recommend this dentist.

	100%	This is the best dentist I have visited out of the 4 I have used. The dentist is always pleasent, fully explains any treatment, advises of the cost of any treatment beforehand and of all the available options. When receiving treatment, the dentist has always sought to reduce any discomfort - even fillings are pretty painless. Both the treatment and aftercare are exemplary - after treatment, the dentist has even had the courtesy to phone me later in the day to see if I am alright. I would recommend this practice to anyone who hatea visiting the dentist.
	92%	Very satisfied with the quality of care provided. All the staff are very professional in their approach. I have one comment about the way Denplan operates in this practice (which differs from the experience of other family members with other dentists). With the Christchurch practice, the monthly fees just pay for routine check-ups and the hygeinist. Elsewhere they cover basic treatment too (like fillings). The consequence is that the monthly fees at the Christchurch practice are quite expensive for the limited amount they cover.
	100%	Always friendly staff and I very seldom have to wait any more than 5 minutes for my appointment. I like being able to combine the hygienist with my check-up to save coming on two days.
	96%	I have just completed a course of Invisalign treatment and am delighted with the result. The course required a number of visits to the Practice for new aligners and adjustments. These visits were always pleasant due to the friendliness and efficiency of Dr van Staden and his staff who always made me feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this Practice.
